Salsipuedes Surf Guide

Salsipuedes is arguably Northern Baja's best pointbreak and a transcendental surfing experience. There are two separate and unique breaks that make up Salsipuedes. The reef, which is up around the top of the point, is an A-frame that offers bowly lefts and longer, yet sectiony, rights on W-to-NW swells up to a few feet overhead. (SW swells don't really get into Salsipuedes with any size.) Around the bend going south is the main attraction. In this righthander's most brilliant moments, it has been called the thickest, meanest, most hollow pointbreak on the North American West Coast. The catch is that such oceanic excellence is indeed quite rare. Swell must wrap almost 90 degrees into the bay, then keep up steam for a good three miles before reaching the point on the inside bayshore. Such powerful refraction comes only on the heels of a huge W-NW winter groundswell, and must be met by an extremely low tide.
