An increase in south to southwest winds over the local waters produces more windswell over the afternoon. Our local winds are pretty strong out of the SSW/S setting up sideshore, wind-blown conditions. It is rideable, but not very pretty.

Directly south of Carolina Beach is Kure Beach, where surfers generally focus on the pier or any of a number of beach accesses, like Alabama Avenue, which sits right at the border between the two towns.
