Big Monmouth Surf Guide
Monmouth is one of several reliable fall/winter beachbreaks in New Jersey. Hurricanes, nor'easters and just solid low pressure systems treat Monmouth's array of jetties quite well, though things can get messy and closed out when swells start maxing.
Local Vibe
Pretty chill.
Crowd Factor
Mellow, unless the surf is firing.
Spot Rating
Good on the right day but not a standout in the region.
Shoulder Burn
Can be a short paddle but depends on the sand.
Water Quality
Pretty clean overall.
Hazards
Shallow bottom, rip currents.
Access
Parking is mostly free but very limited, beach is free if you are just surfing. Enter the beach by walkway over the sea wall. Wheelchair accessible. This is a designated surf beach in the summer.

Sand.
Best Season
September through March.
