Deal Surf Guide
Deal isn’t a specific break but a series of breaks over an 18-block stretch in the town of Deal, perhaps the most exclusive beach town in New Jersey. Several prominent jetties work best on south and southeast swells and occasionally holds some very large surf around the middle of town. Best on west winds but can handle quite a bit of southwest wind.
Local Vibe
Somewhat exclusive.
Crowd Factor
Mellow to moderate.
Spot Rating
Quite good when on.
Shoulder Burn
Moderate.
Water Quality
Decent.
Hazards
Large jetties and potentially strong drifts, private beaches.
Access
Tricky. Street parking is free but limited as Deal is one of the least friendly towns in New Jersey to surfers and non-locals with tough access and private beach clubs. As of 2026, a day beach badge is $12 weekday/$15weekend and a seasonal badge is $200.
Bottom
Sand.
Best Season
August to October.
