A windy day as low pressure tracks across the UK - options to shelter from the wind
Dawn-to-Midday: almost gale force SE wind at first light so don't rush in. If you want to surf through the morning plan to get in at high-tide breaks that handle that wind. Wind will ease a little as the tide drops off high.
Afternoon Outlook: sheltered spots that handle breezy, W/WSW wind the go for an afternoon/evening session. Mellowest surf early afternoon, novices plan to surf as the tide drops. High-tide spots tucked in out of the W wind will have some size as the tide pushes.

There are two main stretches of beach; the main beach to the north is a vast length of sand backed by dunes, the smaller to the south is a sometimes-rocky bay that can disappear at high.
