Kumari Point Surf Guide

A long right reef point, on the southern tip of Little Andaman island. The wave is a screamer, take off as far up the reef as you think you can make it, and keep pumping like a madman through long barreling sections until the wave begins to slow down as it approaches the end section. The end section can throw a good tube, as the reef ends abruptly where a small stream flows into the Indian Ocean, cutting a channel in the reef in front of a pristine white sand beach.

The reef itself isn't too shallow or dangerous, and the lineup tends to spread out as the wave can be a very long ride. Water is bathtub-warm, and no one has ever seen a shark in this area, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

The location of Kumari Point is extremely remote. There are few settlements or people living on Little Andaman, and there is nothing in the area other than a seasonal beach camp of the Onge people, one of the tribal peoples of the Andamans. The Onges are protected by law from contact with Indians or any outsiders to promote their chances of survival.
