Ma'ili Surf Guide

There are a couple of fun wave options on the 40-acre Ma'ili Beach Park. The two prominent breaks are called Green Lanterns and Tumbleland. Green Lanterns is located at the north end of the park, at the mouth of Ma'ili'ili Stream, beside the jetty. On a medium-sized NW swell, long rights will break off the jetty. On the south end of the beach park is a proper left-breaking reefbreak called Tumbleland, which holds more power than Green Lanterns and offers faster, more technical lines -- not to mention a shallower, sharper bottom. Tumbleland breaks best on a medium-sized SW swell. On big winter swells, the entirety of Ma'ili Beach Park can be awash with surf, thus strong currents become a factor.
