Margate Pier Surf Guide
Above average surf break in Margate, one of the “Downbeach” cities on Absecon Island, south of Atlantic City. At its best, it’s a peeling left and the better wave around for high-performance surfing. Works on all swell directions but best on a southeast. Better on higher tides. Best wind is northwest but handles north and even some light northeast.
Local Vibe
Mostly mellow.
Crowd Factor
Light to moderate.
Spot Rating
On the right day, it can be fun but depends on the sandbar.
Shoulder Burn
Usually pretty mellow.
Water Quality
Pretty clean overall.
Hazards
The pier, shallow bottom, rip currents.

No parking on the beach block, but street parking is free in the neighborhood, harder to come by in the summer. This beach is wheelchair accessible at Exeter Ave. This is a designated surf beach in the summer, beach badge required during guarded hours.
Bottom
