Moruya Surf Guide

Several quality waves can be found near the entrance to the Moruya River, a short drive from the beautiful town of Moruya.

There's a large rock wall at the entrance to the rivermouth and this provides a consistent set up that delivers excellent long rides, mainly lefts, from two to eight foot. At its best, it can break for up to 200 yards, offering up satisfying sand bottom peelers. Another feature is its ability to handle the strong south winds that are common in these parts. The left isn't the only option here either; right-handers can also be had on the other side of the channel.

On the northern side of the wall you'll find a right-hander that can really turn it on in northeast through to southeast swells and west to southwest winds. This can get as good as the entrance on its day and helps in spreading the weekend crowds. Further up the beach you can take your pick of often-empty beachbreaks.
