Pererenan Surf Guide
Just north of the busy Echo Beach scene in Canggu, past the Prerenan rivermouth and beneath a statue of a Balinese sea deity riding a fish with an elephant head, you’ll find a bit of breathing room and a fun black-sand beach and reefbreak setup. Pererenan serves up punchy lefts and longer rights. The right is the main draw – a consistent wall for carving turns that often ends in a hollow closeout. Sometimes it even throws up a tube section on the takeoff. The left is shorter but can get steep and fast, especially on a more southerly swell. Both waves work best on mid to high tides; low tide drains the shape and exposes too much reef. Watch out for the inside shelf on the left – it gets shallow and unforgiving.
