Periscopes Surf Guide

Many miles eastward from Sumbawa's famous west coast reefs lies the thorn shaped Hu'u Bay, a.k.a. the Lakey Peak area. Equally famous, and surf-wise more consistent than the west coast, it is also much more crowded and exploited as it is within striking distance thanks to good roads from the island's airport.

Not your typical Indonesian wave, Periscope Point is a powerful, fast, thick, top-to-bottom right-hander, better with a higher tide since it gets a bit ledgy and shallow on low tides, especially the inside section. Periscopes breaks close to the beach, and there's a nifty little paddling channel. Super easy. Hence, it can get quite crowded.
