Real Beach Surf Guide

The break's sandy bottom and generally uncrowded lineups combine to make a comfortable session for surfers of any level. The wave breaks both left and right over a sandbar. During typhoon swells, Bagasbas Beach has been known to provide barrels. The current can be quite strong during bigger conditions. Swimmers and waders provide a bulk of the water traffic and care must be given close to shore, where children make a game of avoiding the oncoming boards.

If reef breaks are more to your speed, a boat ride from the town of Mercedes takes you to a rivermouth. Paddling is also an option for masochists. The right-hander has been known to get up to 8 feet with the right wind conditions. The biggest draw is that the crowd factor is nearly non-existent with mostly local Daet surfers in the water.
