Rest Bay Surf Guide
The most popular surf spot in south-east Wales, offering playful beach-break peaks that work through most stages of the tide. As with many breaks in the area, the surf will stop breaking on big spring high tides, which are best avoided. Surf height are typically strongest on the incoming tide, though an outgoing neap tide can still deliver worthwhile waves. Expect consistent crowds year-round, with a full mix of surfcraft in the lineup—especially when a fun-sized swell is on offer. Lower tides tend to provide more breathing room, with multiple peaks allowing surfers to spread out and hunt for their own wave. Rest can also serve as a useful option in breezy SE winds, particularly on a fuller tide, when nearby breaks are more exposed to side-shore conditions.
