Rockpiles Surf Guide

Rockpile is located roughly halfway between Kaiser's and Ala Moana Bowls. Like its fellow South Shore breaks, Rockpile always has a crowd on it. The wave itself offers a short but vertical left that, if ridden completely, will end in a closeout section on the very shallow inside reef. The right is longer and usually a little more slopey, but it is still rippable. It also offers somewhat of a channel to sneak back out in. Be aware that on smaller days and during lower tides, the lineup is often so shallow that your feet will graze the reef while waiting for a set. Likewise, the most direct paddle out to Rockpile is over very shallow reef, so surfing Rockpile requires a fair amount of skill and a sound comfort level with reef surfing.
