Segar Surf Guide
Within earshot of the engines revving at Mandalika Formula 1 Raceway lies a different kind of speedway – the rippable reefbreaks of Seger Beach. Just a quick motorbike zip from Kuta, this scenic beach juts out from the southeast corner of the Kuta Bay and offers up punchy rights and lefts. It’s a swell magnet and a go-to when other spots go flat – good up to about 6 foot – but gets buried on big swells and blown out by dry season trades. Early mornings or wet season are your best bets.
The righthander at the western tip is a local favorite: fast, playful, and perfect for stringing together high-performance turns. It can even dish out a nice barrel with a bit of swell and, when on, feels like the funnest wave around. The mellower left on the east side crumbles gently over reef, ideal for beginners and groms. Both waves need a mid to high tide; low tide turns Seger into a sea urchin-laced closeout fest.
Post-surf, climb the southern headland for a panoramic view of Kuta Bay and a killer sunset.
