Seminyak Surf Guide

Seminyak is better known for its stylish beach clubs and upscale dining than for surf, but you can still get a few waves here. If you’re staying at one of the high-end resorts and your group is more interested in cocktails than cutbacks, it’s possible to sneak in a session between spa visits and sunset drinks. The beachbreak here offers short, shifty peaks that often close out depending on sandbar conditions. Look up and down the beach for the most promising bank – popular spots are in front of Ku De Ta beach club and near the Legian Hotel in Petitenget. Expect sideshore SE trade winds during dry season, which blow cleaner the further south you go. Water quality is hit-or-miss – after heavy rains, expect brown runoff and plastic debris. Wet season (Nov-Apr) brings junky onshore winds. Best bet is early morning glass or rare NE wind days. The further north you go, the more swell exposure, but also messier conditions as the coast bends northwest and trades shift to cross or even onshore.
