Southerndown Surf Guide
A fun, user-friendly beach-break that works through most stages of the tide, although like many spots in the area the surf will stop breaking on big spring high tides which are best avoided. Wave size is usually at its best on the incoming tide, though outgoing neap tides can still deliver with swell generally holding its size. The beach is popular locally but rarely overcrowded, the line-up thins further on lower tides as peaks spread out. It can also be a useful option in breezy SE to SSE wind, particularly on a fuller tide as Witches Point to the south offers some shelter compared to nearby breaks which succumb more to side-shore conditions.
