Towan Surf Guide
The most sheltered of the Newquay beaches, and hence a popular spot during huge southwesterly storms when the waves here can be clean and offshore. A left breaks off the harbour wall, but the rest of the beach is either fast short lefts and rights, or a huge close out.
Local Vibe
Either a chilled summer beginners spot or winter chaos.
Crowd Factor
Busy in storm swells.
Spot Rating
Mostly a close-out. Fun when small.
Shoulder Burn
No real channel so lots of paddling.
Water Quality
Pretty clean.
Hazards
Crowds, stray boards, rocks.
Access
A couple of car park options close to the beach.
Bottom
Sand and rock patches near high.
Best Season
December - February.
