Uchiumi Surf Guide
A small harbor town south of Miyazaki City, Uchiumi, well positioned on the indented Nichinan Coast, has a good left reef break. Popular with Miyazaki surfers, it can be a good alternative to area beachbreaks. The left is the main wave and will hold up to 8-foot on seasonal typhoon swells. There is a right on the other side of the channel, which takes a major typhoon swell to start to show.

Local Vibe
Doable
Definitely a few vibes for outsiders, mostly intended for Japanese from other regions of Japan. Foreigners should be polite, defer to locals, and never drop in.
Crowd Factor
Moderate
Weekends and holiday periods when there is swell the left can get crowded, there will be more watchers sitting on the seawall than surfers if it's big enough for Curren's Point to break.
Spot Rating
Perfect
The left is good but the long, hollow right of Curren's Point is better.

Can be a lot of work on the bigger typhoon swells.

Not bad but depends on rain.

Tough when it gets big on typhoon swells.
