South Los Angeles Forecast

Today

Solid day of waves, esp. for Manhattan north. Semi-clean AM, mostly lined/walled up. Some PM bump.

SSW swell tops out and mixes with just a bit of NW swell. Sharp gradient in surf size from south to north: knee-waist high waves at average spots further south. Better breaks chest-shoulder-high+ as far north standouts go head-high to a little larger at times. Mostly walled, especially on the earlier low tide, but just enough NW for the occasional corner.

Light onshore SW-W early for some crumble, which will nudge up through the AM. Manageable SW-W PM onshores and a partial evening clean up.

Bay St. Surf Guide

From Santa Monica to Dockweiler, you'll find a series of piers and breakwaters that are generally well below average. Spots include Santa Monica, Venice, Playa del Rey and the ever-popular Ballona Creek, one of the most polluted storm drains in Los Angeles. One of the better stretches of this area is Santa Monica's Bay Street, primarily because it has the best parking. As with most spots in this area, Bay Street works best when there are holes in the sand or during a crossed-up swell. Read more
