Open beaches boost in size as new swell mixes in. Quality stays low as WNW prevails

Another tough day on the open beaches without much in the way of quality. No shortage of size and more swell to fill into the afternoon. While prevailing WNW wind means quality will stay low on the open coast, we will see a better quality swell building into the afternoon. What this will do is allow some of the protected points and corners to possibly become an option later on. And with wind speeds relatively light, there's the chance these zones will be worth a grovel.

Flinders Beach Surf Guide

Flinders offers multiple breaks, with Big Left and Cyril’s being the standouts. Big Left is a heavy, outside left-hand reef that picks up plenty of swell—and wind. On larger groundswells it becomes a powerful wave capable of long hold-downs, and it’s highly wind-affected unless offshore.

Cyril’s is more protected, more consistent, and generally punchier, offering high-performance sections suited to advanced surfers.
