Fun to locally mid-size surf today with clean AM conditions, manageable afternoon bump.
Dawn to 10:00AM: SSW swell tops out over the morning and mixes with a decent amount of shorter period NW swell. Widespread waist high+ waves. Better SW and combo breaks hit chest-shoulder-high as standouts go head-high+. Not peaky but enough NW swell for some beachbreak corners -- especially on the mid AM tide push. Light/variable winds early, go light WSW mid morning.
Afternoon Outlook: Waves hold. Mellow WSW wind crumble through mid afternoon, then onshores ease going into the evening.

Pitas Point Surf Guide
On minus low tides and solid winter swells, the inside section at Pitas (line up in front of the spiral staircase) becomes the Santa Anita Raceway, with ledgy right walls galloping into sand-sucking caverns. There's probably only a 50 percent makability rate on the good days, but five and six-second tubes are not uncommon -- the true Rincon alternative. The awkward dance along the barnacle-encrusted cobblestones is worth the hassle when the Aleutian juice is on tap. Read more
